| My first chow was acquired my senior year in college. My boss had one and I thought that was the most wonderful dog. I had grown up with bird dogs (English Setters and a Brittany) and wanted a dog that my dad could not take hunting and make his dog in one trip. After doing a lot of research , I decided that a Chow was the breed that I wanted. They were a natural guard dog (and I was moving out by myself), and they were not known for pointing quail. I bought a puppy in the winter of 1981 and have had chows ever since. Though I have never had many dogs or done much breeding, I am very proud of the quality of dogs that I have had. When I do breed, it is for a combination of intelligence, type, movement, and balance. |
